IO-Link for Machine Vision IO-Link is a globally standardized IO technology for communicating with sensors and actuators. Point-to-point communication is based on the 3-wire sensor and actuator connection, which is why the technology is not a fieldbus, but a further development of the previous connection technology. In the meantime, however, the technology is not only used for production sensors, but also in the process industry or for rotary encoders. The question arises as to whether machine vision would also be a field of application for IO-Link? One advantage is the simple parameterization of sensors. Furthermore, the IO-Link Smart Sensor Profiles open up completely new application possibilities for sensors. In addition, IO-Link can also be used to transfer information on the reject rate and recorded object profiles. This makes the technology interesting at least for vision or profile sensors, which are already an integral part of today's automation systems.

Kind regards
