Renesas’ new RZ/V2L MPUs are designed for entry-level AI applications and include the DRP-AI (Dynamically Reconfigurable Processor) AI accelerator. This is complemented by optimizations such as matching the DRP-AI operating frequency and memory interface to an entry-level MPU. The DRP-AI provides both real-time AI inference and image processing functions, such as color correction and noise reduction. This allows users to implement AI-based image processing applications without an external ISP. Renesas offers a free DRP-AI Translator tool that automatically converts AI models into an executable format. Initial samples are available, with mass production scheduled to begin in December 2021.
