The optoNCDT 1900LL sensors by Micro Epsilon are designed for distance measurement on metallic and structured surfaces in measuring ranges of 10 and 25mm. A special cylindrical lens expands the light spot to an oval light spot. Optical averaging over the oval light spot compensates for surface unevenness. In addition, the signal is optimized by algorithms. The sensors are particularly advantageous for measurement tasks with pure distance changes in the Z-direction. For movements in the X- or Y-direction, they also provide more stable measured values than comparable point sensors.
