B&R’s new Smart Camera links a wide range of image processing tasks in real time. For example, if different product variants are being manufactured on a machine at the same time, the camera can use just one image to check which variant is involved and whether the packaging print is in order. Since the process variables of the controller are seamlessly integrated into these sequences, decisions can be derived from them in real time. The application creator virtually wires the individual image processing functions of the smart camera in a graphical editor, which means that complex programming work is not necessary. Because of the complete integration into the B&R system, even complex tasks can be linked and synchronized with the processes of a controller in just a few minutes.
