The Poly Robot Automated Fixture System (PRAFS) automates the virtual fixturing of Carl Zeiss GOM Metrology’s ScanBox technology. This replaces the previously manual component positioning with a robot-controlled holding technique. The robot-assisted multi-recording system was developed by Protos 3D-Metrology. The system stores several thousand different setups (holding positions for components), which are called up from the component list via an HMI. Once a part is selected, the robots move to the part-specific loading positions. The part is inserted and the measuring process is started at the push of a button. Specialized knowledge of operation is not required.
