Siemens provides an AI edge solution for wood quality determination using RGB cameras as a data source for quality control and, as an extension, also Hyperspectral Imaging (HSI) for multimodal analysis. Flexible edge solutions are possible with a modular design and an SDK. Different analysis models and algorithms can be dynamically loaded via a plug-in mechanism. Transferability of AI models to different lines and locations is ensured using cutting-edge learning methods such as Transfer & Federated Learning. Existing models can be hosted as templates in a cloud repository and instantiated for the respective site on an edge device.
