The bionic filter by Q.Vitec and Ing. RTS (ingb-rts.de) is able to reliably detect different contours as well as objects and distinguish them from the background despite a wide range of lighting conditions and colors. In highly dynamic optical scenes, ordinary image processing methods fail due to noise, but with the Bionic Filter, more stable contours are guaranteed for light-independent applications. Despite changing light conditions, color changes on objects or disturbing backgrounds, the technology can be used for demanding image processing applications, such as detection/tracking of objects, inspection for quality & completeness, as well as the recognition of objects and contours (e.g. for bin picking) and this also on shiny surfaces.
