The PACS identification system by Sick recognizes the pallet type based on the branding on the pallet feet and assigns it to a class using a neural network. Based on this assignment, the pallets are automatically labeled. The modular design of the system consists of a combination of hardware and software components, which uses one or more color cameras as required. The Appspace and dStudio software tools help to create the solution based on standard hardware. Optionally, the system can be extended with additional sensors, e.g. barcode reading or measurement of the pallet.
