The flux leakage detection system Inclusione Detection System (IDS) by IMS Messsysteme for the detection of internal inclusions in steel offers the functionality of a complete flux leakage test during ongoing production operations. Electromagnets are used to magnetize the material. The stray fields are detected using GMR sensors. Using image processing with feature calculation and classification, the defects are differentiated based on their size and type of defect. The classification is adapted to the respective material and customer specification.
