STMicroelectronics announced new CMOS sensors with dual global and rolling shutter modes. By combining simultaneous pixel exposure (global shutter) and sequential exposure (rolling shutter), the sensors optimize image capture under a wide range of lighting and motion conditions. The global shutter mode eliminates motion artifacts for distortion-free images, while the rolling shutter improves dynamic range and light sensitivity, supported by integrated 18-bit HDR. The dual mode allows for flexible adaptation to specific applications. The sensors are available in monochrome and RGB-IR variants. The monochrome models (VD5943, VB5943) deliver raw grayscale images, while the RGB-IR models (VD1943, VB1943) feature integrated RGB-IR separation and intelligent upscaling. This optimizes the IR channel and delivers full 5MP IR images in addition to the 5MP RGB output.
