Kithara has developed a real-time driver for the PGC-1000 frame grabber card from PLC2 Design. The PCIe card is used to capture and convert GigE vision data, which almost completely offloads the CPU during image processing operations. The Kithara RealTime Suite provides the real-time support. This allows multiple camera streams (4×10Gbit/s or 1×40 Gbit/s) to be run with minimal CPU load and the captured image data to be stored on SSDs in the same real-time context. Real-time synchronization of multiple cameras via Kithara’s PTP function is also possible.
