Fraunhofer IPM’s Film-Inspect testing system makes it possible to test functional barrier layers on plastic products at production speed. The sensor uses IR measurement technology to detect thin coatings with a thickness of less than 10 to 200nm inline. The sensor is approximately 20×40×80mm in size and can easily be integrated into the production line. Several sensors can be linked and communicate with the system control via Profinet and OPC-UA. A USB interface and evaluation software are available for simpler applications with individual sensors.
