The Fraunhofer IOF’s high-speed 3D sensor goCrash3D records 3D data during crash tests in the test vehicle. With a single LED at 15,000 lux and two cameras at 12,000fps with 512×512 pixels, a computer calculates around 1,200 3D images/s. The field of view is 70x70cm at a distance of 1m. The system is mounted in a frame with elastomer buffers, which is why it can withstand accelerations of up to 200g and shocks of up to 60g.
