Micro-Epsilon’s SurfaceControl Automotive is a robot-based measuring system for the fully automated surface inspection of raw car bodies. The system uses structured light projection and a machine learning algorithm to detect defects such as dents, bumps, and scratches. It offers a high detection rate and surface coverage of 97%, including edges, design contours, and highly curved areas such as door handle recesses. A CAD-based simulation for the rapid definition of measurement positions and motion sequences, as well as integrated 6D offset correction for compensating for positional deviations, ensure reliable processes.
